Winnipeg, MB – August 9, 2021 – Dakota Community Centre (DCC) is the new home of MJHL’s Winnipeg Freeze. The partnership between Dakota Community Centre and the Winnipeg Freeze will see the team practice, train and play all home games in the Jonathan Toews Sportsplex at DCC starting this fall.
The Winnipeg Freeze are a junior hockey team with a focus on training and developing some of Manitoba’s future hockey stars. The Dakota Community Centre has been a St. Vital community staple for over 30 years. Programming growth and site expansion have made Dakota Community Centre one of largest and fastest growing sport and recreation complexes in Winnipeg.
“It’s no secret that our city and community love watching and playing hockey,” says Michele Augert, CEO Dakota Community Centre. “We have the ideal setup at our centre with superior ice and training facilities and we are very excited to welcome the Winnipeg Freeze to Dakota CC this fall.”

The Winnipeg Freeze are one of 12 member clubs and the most recent in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL). The Freeze are one of two teams in the league who play out of Winnipeg. The MJHL consists of Manitoba markets only and are proud members of the Canadian Junior Hockey League(CJHL).
