FREEZE ACQUIRE KADEN STEWART FROM SELKIRK

The Winnipeg Freeze have acquired defenseman Kaden Stewart from the Selkirk Steelers.

The Warren product scored one goal and tallied five assists with 50 penalty minutes in 32 games between the Winkler Flyers and Selkirk Steelers last season.

The left-shot defender, who will turn 19 on June 22, joins Briggs Jowett as new faces on a blue line being rebuilt by head coach Jay Pylypuik.

“He’s a high-character kid who’s hard to play against,” said Pylypuik.

“He’ll add a steady, calming presence to our blue line next year.”

Selkirk receives a fifth round pick in exchange for Stewart.
