Jay Pylypuik

Pylypuik joins the Freeze with over 20 years of coaching and development experience.  He has most recently spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Men’s University of Calgary program in USports. There he was responsible for developing and working with the defenceman as well as the penalty kill. Jay also was a big part of the on-ice skill development with all the players.  Prior to then, Pylypuik spent three seasons as the assistant coach with the Men’s Mount Royal University program in USports.

Jay has also spent time in the past serving as Head Coach of the Calgary Royals AAA and Calgary Canucks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.  Jay has also served Hockey Alberta in various capacities including the Assistant Coach in 2012 and 2019 with the Male U16 Team Alberta and various roles with the Alberta Cup program including the Director of Operations. Jay is known as someone who is committed to helping players develop on and off the ice. 

Prior to coaching, Jay spent four seasons playing for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the NCAA Division III and played professional hockey in the United States for two seasons.
